So I got up early and went in to wake up Jacob before his alarm went off. He jumped out of bed and said "mom, I have been thinking... Nathan is in my class and he can show me things if I don't know where they are." That is right son, and your teacher can too, remember this is Nathan's first year at Old Mill too. Jacob then said, "we can help each other!" That is right! (heart swelling) Oh and Mom, last night I also thought maybe Josh can show me around." Again son remember Josh went to JR Smith with you last year!
He then ran off to get into the shower. While he was in the shower I thought to myself, all last night I was so worried that I hadn't prepared him enough, I hadn't given him a new backpack, or got his favorite snack for his cold lunch...I had worried myself sick. Then this morning he reminded me that he too had thought all last night about his first day of school and I did give him what he needed! He has the ability to look past the little things and see the bigger picture. He didn't worry himself to sleep like I thought he might, he came up with a solution to the problem and woke up happy about his decision!
We were able to change his pump, get breakfast, brush teeth, comb hair, pack his lunch and get him out the door way EARLY! Jacob barely ate breakfast, he was worried about missing the bus! He left the house off to his bus stop with his backpack, lunch, tester, and a small note for his teacher! Oh and another piece of toast because I couldn't get him to stay in the house one minute longer.
The bus stop is right in front of our house so I was able to walk outside with him and wait. The other kids were not up yet so Jacob and I popped up weeds in the front yard while we waited for the bus. It was a great morning...

Austin was excited for his first day as well, of course he wasn't going to a new school, or on a new bus, or packing a lunch (he eats school lunch), or having to worry about diabetes stuff. You're amazing, Jenny.
