Diabetes Camp

Funny QUOTE: Jack said to me "I hate when dirls (girls) say look at that cute little boy!" I don't like it! (this happened at KFC tonight when a girls soccer team bus stopped and a bunch of girls walked by.)

I finally did it! I registered us for diabetes camp... every year I think "we really need to go to this" and every year things come up.I am very hard on myself often when I don't go to things. I think sometimes that I too need to challenge myself. THIS WAS NOT ONE OF THOSE TIMES! I am glad that the other 4 years I didn't chose to go by myself. NO WAY could I keep track of all the kids and get to the activities and well just do about anything. You need more than one adult if you have 3 or 4 kids. I realized that I need to give myself more credit, I recognize (with the help of my Heavenly Father, who watches out for us EVERY DAY!) when it is time to stay and when it is time to go! This year turned out great, Brian was able to come so I didn't need to do it alone. The kids made tons of crafts, had some education classes, swam in the heated pool, ate awesome food, received a ton of prizes and gifts. We (adults) also received some fun prizes and gifts, great food, nice group meetings, and awesome education classes! The camp help was great, mostly made up of young teen Volunteers, they sat with us at dinner and played with us during family time and played with our kids/babysat our kids during our education classes.
Camp fire songs to remember...
Gray Squirrel... Gray Squirrel... Shake your bushy tail
Baby shark... Mama Shark... Daddy Shark.... Grandma Shark... Grandpa Shark...
A RIGA BAMBOOOOO!
Princess Pat...
and many many more, the kids loved it! We loved watching the kids!
We also met some great families with children our kids same ages, we learned from each other and had a nice time getting to know their "horror story."
Come to find out some of the volunteers are their because of the free supplies! They have no insurance so they spend their summers as peer volunteer with no pay but the extra diabetic supplies they receive. Amazing how these kids would give up a summer, so they can take better care of their diabetes. One girl and her brother weren't even sure how they were going to get home.
Jacob joined the graduating class, and has the option of going by himself next year. We would like to go again to the family camp so I am not sure if he will do both or what our schedules will end up being, but I definitely want to go again.

Looks more like a vacation than anything. Julie went to camp once, but we all didn't get to go. That's awesome.

Suzy, next year you guys come too! It is cheap and fun, plus you could learn a little more about diabetes! I sure did!
