Here Kitty Kitty!

Last night was the last night my parents were here. My mom's back has continually digressed to the point that if she does anything... yes anything for even a short amount of time she needs to lay down. She has so much pain and it is not getting better, so she is scheduled for her 3rd back surgery. Well last night we visited while she lay on the couch before she went to bed. I stayed up a little longer and finally decided it was time to hit the sack. As I headed for my room I heard the sound of water, you know the water running through pipes sound. I unlocked the front door to see if the sprinklers were on for some strange reason. Nope. I shut and locked the door. I then went towards the music room where I had been dehydrating bananas the last few days to see if one of the boys plugged in the dehydrator, again no. As I neared the stairs it became louder and I realized it was my dad's C-pap machine, so off to bed I went. I looked at my alarm clock, my eyes heavy 12:00 am midnight.

I sat up in my bed, there is water running, I hear it. I step out of bed and walk towards my bathroom and turn on the light! I see the cold water handle has been turned on to my bathtub. I walk over, still in a half awake slumber and shut it off. A tiny bit terrified, I walk out of my bathroom to see what is going on and find a large white.... CAT in my bedroom. I walk over to the french doors next to my bed, unlock and open the door, calling here kitty kitty, and trying to encourage this LARGE cat to exit my home. Nothing, so I walk over to it and it runs into the hall, as I near my bedroom door I feel a breeze flowing through my room. What other door is open? I follow the cat into the family room and check the kitchen and garage doors, both closed and locked. I turn to see the cat still in the hall now doing a scared cat call and notice that my front door is open. I locked that! I try to herd the cat outside, using the sheep dog herding technique we recently saw at the Sheep dog trials. You know, push towards them and then step back or stop, you don't want to startle it. Kitty is now doing the low snarl fight sound and the image of a cat turning and biting my cheek flashes into my head. Age 8, England, cat beneath a hedge, little girl (me) wants to pet the cat, little girl comes away with a bite and 3 stitches.

The cat darts through the stair rails and cowers down behind the baby gate on the top stair. I open the gate and reach down to scare it back between the rails and out the open front door. Instead I step back, close the baby gate and let out a little squeal as the cat starts to hiss and turn towards me. My Father is now awake and slowing heading up the stairs wondering where the cat fight is. He soon realizes that the cat is not welcome in my home and slowly walks up the stairs, the low moaning cat fight cry begins to get louder and I reach down again only to snap my hand back when he starts to stand up. Suddenly the stupid cat, runs towards me... I jump back. Then it comes to me SNAKE! As it passes me I grab it by the scruff of its neck with my pointer finger holding its head away from me. Out the front door it goes and this time I make sure it is locked!

The only thing I could come up with is, when I shut our front door I didn't shut it all the way and the door came open letting this white (ghost) cat into my house. Then I guess the kitty was thirsty and decided to turn on my water... or my house is haunted. Take your pick!

I really prefer the ghost cat story to the my house is haunted idea! Of course me, the cat lover, wouldn't have had the same reaction. Sounds like.....fun?!
