Up hill both ways

Everyday Jacob mentions how the weather is and if he is going to walk home from school or not. One day this past week we had high winds that were blowing snow directly from the North. It was amazing to watch sheets of snow be taken from off the top of the parks layer of snow and blown directly onto our nice clear driveway. I received a call from Rachel, "Pioneer journals or not I think I will pick up the kids today." We laughed and Brian mentioned that they might be blown backwards if they tried to walk home. Jacob also mentioned that he was lifted into the air that day. Brian decided that he should fix the front door. The front door has leaked air for three or four years. The winds blowing directly at our house caused snow to be forced into the house. It was so cold, so Brian decided to fix the problem with electricians tape. He locked the front door and forbid us to use it. I just watched him taping up the door, complaining how terrible it leaked. I couldn't believe that he was complaining to me about how terrible it was leaking when I have been complaining to him to fix it for the last 3 winters. The thin electricians tape was not doing much, I guess he wanted to feel like he was doing something useful. After he left the tape shot off the door, we tried to replace it but it just didn't do the trick. I hope that we can fix the door this year or get a storm door put in.
This cute picture was taken by Rachel, Kelsey's mom and I take turns taking the kids to school and then we try and meet them as they walk home. Aiden's bus use to come close to the time that I would pick up Jacob so I could not walk to meet them. Rachel walked down this day and pulled all three kids back up the hill home. Brian stopped and picked up Jacob somewhere along the way, but Rachel said that there was no break, another kid just jumped right in his place.
Happy Birthday to Rachel, Wendy, and Gen. Lee, pop open the bubbly and lets all toast to good times!

I know how u feel with that cold door. Our door to the garage from our house was leaking air and if you stood in front of it you could literally feel a breeze non stop. It was amazing how cold it made our basement. SO after two and a half years of living here, Mark went and got a new rubber door thing (LOL) to fix it. It's so much better now...but its funny how we just say, "Ahhhh, we'll fix it next winter". Hope you had a fabulous jubilation this week end. We are so going to have to go out for the girls b-day this next week. We are due for another girl’s night out, no sewing machines attached!

Try again!
It looks like we just get snow today, no wind. But don't fear, the wind will kick up in a few days and blow all of the new 10" of snow right into our homes. I was thinking, maybe you should have Brian try packing tape this time. You know, with the strings in the tape, seems really tough!!
Hope your weekend was good!

Thanks Jen. I didn't get to the bubbly this time either. We'll just have to have our own special day sometime.
You could always try duct tape...then repaint :).

What was Brian thinking? Trying to tape it, he should have just hung a couple quilts in front of the door, nailed up at the top of course. If he reads those pioneer journals so much he should know how they kept the cold out of their
non insulated log huts!
