Passport for one please

Last Sunday Brian's boss Steve invited Brian and Aiden on a fishing trip in Northern Idaho, Moose Creek and then in Vancouver Canada. This was all perfect except for the fact that Aiden doesn't have a passport and as of sometime this year you no longer can use your birth certificate to enter and exit Canada.

Brian was very excited about this trip and realized that he had a lot of planning to do. Steve really just invited Aiden along. Brian was always going because he is the pilot that will fly them in and out of this back country strip in Idaho. Then fly them into Canada. So Sunday was spent packing as light as possible a tent and all the gear that 2 men and 2 boys will need for 2 days. I at this point realized that Brian would be the pilot, babysitter, tour fishing guide, camp director, cook, and clean up crew. He will have his hands full. I am glad they are only staying one night there.

This meant that Monday while Brian was in California picking up Steve and his son Bennett, I was frantically filling out forms and running around town trying to get Aiden's Passport expedited so he didn't end up left in Canada! It was a long hard day but it made it all worth it to hear how much Brian appreciated me doing this for him. It also helped that he had the "I am so sorry to do this to you right now" look for the rest of the day. I do love him and it was worth the 3 extra Percocet that I took to make me feel better later that evening.

I have been able to email Brian a couple times and it sounds like he and Aiden are having a lot of fun. One email said, "We fed some eagles, saw bears, went kayaking, rode horses, went salmon fishing, and came back got a massage then sat in the hot tub."

They are staying at a resort called Clayoquot Wilderness Resort. British Colombia luxury tenting, Vancouver Island Canada. Here are a few pictures:
These are the tents they are staying in, rough!

In your tented accommodations you will find:
Deserving Thyme skin and body care products
Plush terry cotton robes
Exercise sandals/slippers
Plush cotton towels
Welcome basket
Earthenware springwater cooler
Bottled spring water
Clothes hangers & luggage rack
Facial tissue, nail brush, loafah
Hair dryer and a/c outlets
Insect repellent
Air horn (for emergencies)
Butane lighter (for candles & lamps)
Flashlight (in case of generator failure)
Current periodicals and classic books
Stationery, postcards, resort guide
Wildlife directory

Again this is a picture of inside the "tent."
Lets call this the "Water Hole."

Nice Cot to sleep on in that little tent! Isn't this all just so beautiful!

This is no cooked over coals in a smoky campfire cooking.Again Brian just got online for a bit and said he and Aiden were going to the hot tub. I asked if these pictures were accurate. He said it is unbelievable. Today they saw some whales and sea lions. Went to a beach and picked up seashells and rode horses. They shot a bow and arrow, Brian said that Aiden did really really well. They fed the eagles again and tomorrow they are going kayaking again. Brian also mentioned he had another massage today and he has one scheduled for tomorrow. He said "I really needed this break after just having a baby!" You have to love Brian's sense of Humor.

I know that my 1 hour back scratch is high on his list of favorite things that I have done for him lately and I am glad that he appreciates a good massage here and there. I know he loves to be with me and our kids. I also know how excited he was that he was able to share one of these fabulous trips with someone he cares so much for. He has been to Paris and other fabulous places and he said it just isn't as fun without the ones you love. Thanks to the Funks for letting Brian take Aiden on this once in a lifetime adventure.

I can't wait to see the pictures, Brian said he has taken well over 300 pictures since Tuesday when they left.

Side Note: I had no idea this was a fancy resort. I packed Aiden old camping clothes, holes in the knees, old frayed cut offs etc... Wow I am sooo embarrassed. I guess I really had no choice, right now Aiden and Jacob do not own a pair of jeans that don't have holes in them. I am sure Brian hasn't even noticed. When they told me on chat that they were going to the hot tub, I said "I didn't pack a swimming suit." Brian said we are just using our shorts. It would be so great to be a Man and just not care about the little things.

If he didn't feel really bad I'd come over and make sure he did!

Now that's my kind of camping! I can't believe the tepees have that kind space!

Holy smack! Actually, our canvas tent does have a chimney hole, we just need the $2000 area rug, matching 5 foot lamps, and the fern in a beautiful urn to finish off the look!
WOW - what a place! Did Brian say that he has seen any celebrities up there roughing it with him?

That's not the kind of roughin' it I know! It would be nice to have a massage every day. I think he should order one for you! What a great memory for Aiden to spend alone time with his Dad!
