Brian relaid this story to me one night as he was in his tent with his computer access chatting with me. This is copied from our chatting.
Brian says:
We have an outhouse just outside our tent that is our own personal outhouse. The problem with the outhouse is that the locking latch is up at the top of the door about 6' high. I told Aiden on the first night to wake me if he needed to go potty during the night.
The next night as we were getting ready for bed he asked if I remembered him waking me up to go potty the previous night. I replied 'no". He said that he woke me up and I said "I'm coming" but never showed. This caused Aiden to have to climb the fence next to the outhouse, lean over and unlatch the door all during the middle of the night.
And did I mention that this place is crawling with bears????? We have probably seen a dozen bears right here in "Camp".
Brian says:
Hows that for "Good Daddy"??
I am thinking that the outhouse looks a bit away from the tent... What do you guys think.
Brian says:
They said that bears raised the zippers on three tents last night to take a peek inside.
My mom gave Brian a "bad Daddy award" when he came to pick up the kids from her house. It had bears on it!!!! This is a bit scary, more than I would like to think about. Aiden didn't even take the horn that signals the dogs. That could have been really bad. Brian needs to tell people who don't know, like for instance Aiden, that you have to throw a ice pack at him or something large to get him to wake up. (That is what I did in the hospital.)
Aiden said he loved the food. Everyone knows that you need to have sorbet to "cleanse the pallet" between every course in a five course meal made all the difference. We were really proud of Aiden he had to eat terrible things, WINK WINK... like lobster, shrimp, steak, crab, gourmet soups, etc... it must have been really hard on both him and Brian to have 5 star dinning every morning, noon and night! Aiden is having beet soup above!Last everyone knows that after a hard day of playing you must go and get your robe and flip flops and head on down to the hot tub.
Even if your mother didn't pack you a swimming suit because she had no idea that this was the kind of camping you were going to be doing! Thank goodness for the robe to cover the cut off jeans.
Finally Brian said that when they would get back to the "tent" in the evening the tent was all lit up with candles. He said he hated to get up and blow them all out. I told him I was glad he did, I could see it on the news now. Four year old Utah boy, burns resort down and causes millions of dollars of damage... not to mention burning have of Vancouver Island. I guess he should get a responsible daddy for not letting Aiden burn anything or anyone.

your sarcasm is making me pee my pants, What's New right?
Wow, what a good boy Aiden was truly to be able to deal with all that and still smile! If my dad put me in kayak when I was 4, the whole world would have heard about it!
I can not imagine that kind of camping, truly!
Bears! That has to be a comforting thought to you! Although, it does look like they are having a great time. Gotta love that father, son bonding time!
What a crazy fun trip! the bears must be really friendly, like they used to be in Yellowstone.
You are the funniest writer! Even considered becoming a journalist? This whole story made me laugh again - and I've already heard you tell it in person! Aiden gets 5 stars for putting up with his irresponsible daddy on this 5-star camping trip (just kidding!) I'm SOOOOOO jealous of such a fun trip!!! Never in my lifetime could we ever afford to have such fun - but it's been fun experiencing it thru pictures.
