Journal: Jacob

Well the last couple days have been really rough on Jacob, he got really low again on Tuesday and started to seize. Luckily he felt so miserable that he told me and I was able to get some sugar into him. He doesn't recognize his lows as well as he use to. I guess we were really lucky before. He ended up with a massive headache and after sleeping for around an hour or so felt a lot better. I felt so bad, with tears in his eyes, he could barely walk to me. I can't imagine what pain and discomfort he must be feeling to make him not even be able to walk to me, I can still picture those tears in his eyes and him asking for food.

Today Jacob had tumbling right after school. He was a bit low so I made him a tuna sandwich, took off his pump and then took him to class. When I picked him up (after 1.25 hours) he was 85, so we stopped and got an ice cream and then went to wrestling practice. I left the pump off so he could wrestle and I guess having it off for almost three hours was to much because when I picked him up from wrestling he was 300. Diabetics have told me that when your body goes up and down like that it is the sickest feeling. "like the worst flu you have ever had." Especially to be high. Poor thing I dosed him and within two hours he was crashing again because I didn't take into consideration that he had exercised so much that I didn't need to correct him as much.

Just when I think I have this all figured out I do something, just a small mistake but it makes you feel like you are slowly torturing your child. He is such a good boy to handle all of this, I can't wait to see "what color it is TOO!"

Update: all of the paperwork is in for the new monitor and Sheri is getting the 9 pages of information that I sent to her along with a letter from Dr. S together and submitting it to insurance. We will see how it goes.

That's a lot of responsibility for a parent. Hopefully as the years go on he can figure these feelings out for himself so he knows the difference. Nothing is worse than your kids being sick or not felling well. You're doing great!
