I am not sure where I come up with some of the things that I say, but hey it is my blog right! This last weekend my sweet mother and father came down to Heber to watch my 3 children so I could go to a quilting retreat in Park City! Above is the picture of where we stayed but we didn't have all that snow! It was a beautiful resort and I think for the small fee we had to pay, we lucked out!

I drove the carpool, Patti who is in front (middle) come to find out is also my mother in law's visiting teacher. Heather is on the far right and Rachel is taking the picture. We had a lot of stuff to take up. Three; tables, chairs and boxes of food. Four sewing machines, cutting mats, overnight bags, fabric, scissors you get the idea...

This is a view of the sewing area from the top level of the suite. We had around 16 ladies and enough snacks and food to feed a small country! Each suite had four bedrooms, some with kings some with twins, 3 or 4 bathrooms, two main rooms, fire places, huge spa tubs, it was amazing. The mattress from the pull out couch that Rachel and I slept on was actually not bad once we pulled it onto the floor. But anything feels good at 2 am I guess! Brian called me as he was traveling home from the Jazz game at 12:30 am and thought it was odd that we were not all having a pillow fight, but we were still sewing!
All you do is sew? He asked, "yes, that is why they call it a quilting retreat." He said something along the line of "how stupid is that," with maybe a goodnight at the end.
Paulette taught us how to cut and piece kaleidoscope quilts, here are a couple almost done. These are all pieced from the same fabric, but each one makes such a unique design.

Here is a picture of one of my finished blocks. It sure turned out pretty, a big thanks to Rachel for picking out my fabric. I know she didn't want to and I appreciate her time and thought that she put into picking out some choices for me, even if I have not stopped teasing her about it. I loved quilting "all day" and loved that my mom was able to take such good care of my family for me. She did mention to me that she only had to wake up at 6 am and not go to sleep until midnight to get things done... "Jenny" she said "I don't know why you can't keep up!" She is a funny mom!

That is so great that you guys got to have a weekend doing something you love. Those kaleidoscope quilts are amazing. Can't wait to see yours when it's done!
how do you keep up??
That was not a funny comment it was a serious comment, and you forgot to mention that you need to be on the go the whole time, no time outs, no resting and no sitting down for anything, just keep on the move! And then there is the stress of what to feed Jacob, and how to adjust his pump when you do feed him. I need a rest just thinking about it! I don't know how you do it. Jen, you are a great mom.
Love Mom
