Email's Rowser style

A lot of things happened Saturday, February 28th... another one being that our garage door opener broke. This is the email that Brian sent out to our family email after fixing the garage. Brent sent him a response that is classic! From the words of Brian...

LESSON
The benefits of this lesson have been measured and calculated as the following:

1. Two hours drive time and expense
2. 1 hour greasy labor
3. $70 parts.

When lowering your garage door with the automatic opener and the door is nearly all the way down, it is not advisable to stop that motion by pressing the button that makes the door go back up. It seems this puts an inordinate amount of strain on the chain sprocket on the top of the opener. Said sprocket is likely to sheer and for the next week or so you'll be wishing your kids were big enough to open and close the garage door by hand.

PS. I think this is also what broke Mom's opener in the exact same spot.

Brent's (Brian's Brother) response to above email...

Unfortunately, the sprocket does not always sheer (cheap solution). In such cases, it continues to drive the garage door down, which when that no longer can happen, drives the entire garage door drive assembly upward and outward, dismounting it from the front of the garage and bending everything in between (expensive solution).

If you want to see the result of this, the remains are on exhibition in our garage.

Never a dull moment with the Rowsers!

Well, just be glad you have a garage to break! Even one you have to open by hand beats not having one at all! :)
