Monday morning the boys asked if we could roast hot dogs, I thought that would be a good family activity for a Monday night so I said yes. I planned on using our portable fire pit, but after walking down to school with Kelsey I gave Rachel a call and asked if they might be interested. Using the excuse that Matt had just had surgery and would not be able to easily come to our house, I suggested we have the MESS - at her house with her fire pit.

We loaded up the car with treats and off we went. When we got there Rachel was building a Smoker pit. The wood was wet and it took a bit to get the fire going. I was so impressed with her wood cutting. She chopped it without injury, note Rachel use to fight fires.

Brian came after he got home from work, and was able to roast a few hot dogs before it was to cold to do anything else.
Jacob loved playing with Kendal and wanted us to take pictures of how cute she was. He is going to post on the blog with those pictures. "My fun time with little sister."
The kids soon went off to play in the dark and the adults, with Kendal and Jack, had a few laughs and called it a night. I was glad that Matt was on Crutches so he couldn't run off to quick. Over all Matt's spiritual thought for the night made it all worth the MESS!

Hey, isn't smoke good for the complexion or something? It was a super time, thanks for the great idea. Sometimes we need a little nudge to be social, especially my old Gimp.
That mess is definately worth it!
