Mommalamala's (Mamalamala's)

First of all, Brian laughed and laughed at me that I spell Momma not Mama. I am conducting a poll. Please comment on how you spell that wonderful person's name in your life. Thanks

I remember Mommalama-la's from when I was little, my Brother Clint and I would eat at mommalama-la's often.
Mommalama-la's was a place that we would "go out to eat" without leaving the house. My mom was the main chef and we would order what we wanted.

I have enhanced this by having my kids be the waiters, the chef's, and also the beneficiary.
I have often had Jacob come up to me with a pad and paper, asking me what I would like to eat. He draws the picture and then I help him spell it out. Off he goes down to the kitchen to prepare the food. We have a lot of fun with this. The first time I did it, Jacob and Aiden put on their aprons, and we made a menu on a piece of paper for Brian. The boys took it to him, he circled what he wanted and then my Sous chef and my prep chef, helped me prepare the food. They did such a good job and we had a ton of fun.

My kids asked if they could go out to eat this morning. I said sure we will go to mommalamala's, after some disappointment I took there orders, then convinced them to go outside and play until it was ready. When they came in they were so excited to see such a fun breakfast, they said a prayer on the food and then had a toast with their glasses.
I am not sure where they got that from obviously they are turning into city boys.

I agree, it is Momma--because it is essentially Mom with a little tail - the m-a on the end. Mama seems very Spanish to me--like Papi and Mami- I don't know. Anyway, I think it is Momma.

When i was a tiny little girl i called my mom, "mama",,,But then she died when i was 7,,and I continued to call her "mama". As i got older, people looked at me weird when i said that,,,, so i guess it was in my teens, that i referred to her as "my mom".
But even now when me and my 2 older sisters talk about her,,,, its still "mama" to all of us.

Light to the Masses

I won the 3rd grade spelling bee, and as Buttons clearly wrote...It's Mama....Just like it's Papa, not Pappa. Incidently on Papa, the dictionary says Papa is "Father", and Pappa is a derived from baby talk. So the logical conclusion is that Mama is for Mother and Mamma is....you guessed it.....derived from BABY TALK!!

NUF SED

Buttons, oh crazy one,
It IS the way it is said, but it also the way the computer screen in your brain spells it before you say it. My amazing brain spells it momma, your brain spells it mama, which by the way may be the reason there is a bus parked at the house you grew up in. It is all good mom, promise.

Brian, don't get too Webstered out on us please.

That friggin bus was not there when i grew up,,it was cool stuff like logging trucks and (as in caterpillars)and backhoes.

Holy crap my family is weird! Love them, love them, love them. Or should I say my Momma is weird! By the way, could we not let the whole world know that there is an old school bus parked at Gramma Elaines? Hello--people think we are strange enough.

My Dad and his brother & sisters also called my grandparents Mama & Daddy, and that's how they wrote it too. My kids call me Momma, because when I was teaching them to spell it made more sense, since they could already spell Mom. Brian "Mamma" is a southern word for the black woman slave/worker who would take care of the younguns. The youguns called her "Mammie". So there! I believe that If you're raised in the generation of our parents, it's spelled Mama, and in our generation It's spelled Momma.

Brian, sorry man, you are in OUR generation and so you need to change. I know how much guys love it when women tell them to change.
