Today is a Wonderful Day...

We picked Jacob up just a couple minutes early from school today and took him to get his cast off.

It was a family event...
Dr. Berg with the saw, working his way down one side of the leg. He then cut the length of the other side.

It was a little loud...

He then pried it apart with this handy dandy tool. Dr. Berg commented that they usually are stinky. Jacob's wasn't... I think because of his dry dry skin.

Yuck what a mess.

Jacob said his foot kept moving into the bent and elevated position all on it's own. You know that trick where you can stand in a doorway and push your hands out as hard as you can for as long as you can. Then as you step out of the doorway your hands automatically raise up.

YUCK! His leg feels hard like plastic and has large skin wrinkles in it as well as large patches where the skin is coming off. Jacob had little collections of skin (that he pulled off) everywhere we went. I had him put it on a paper towel, so we could throw it away easier.

Brian did a quick scrub of his leg...

Stiff joints are the main cause of pain at this point.

They took another x-ray... I will get copies of it and post them soon. You can still see the fractures but you can also see the new bone. He told Jacob to not jump on it and try to take it easy for the next 3 weeks. Jacob still needs to use his crutches, but it has been nice giving him a BATH!

That is so awesome. And grose. :) I hope I never have to deal with that. You are such a woman.

I'm happy for Jacob. That first bath after the cast comes off is always a joyous time.
I miss Dr. Berg. Army doctors aren't the best.

I love the look on Aiden's face when Brian is washing Jacob's leg - he looks happily disgusted!

And cha cha, she is so darling!
