It tastes like Chicken!

So often we get set with our normal McDonald/Wendy's type food that when something new and interesting is offered to us we say "I don't like that, or that is gross," without even tasting the food offered. My kids do this with all sorts of food. Food that later they like or sometime even food that I already know that they like but when it is placed before them at the table they say "sick" before they even know what it is.

Brian remembers to this day how his Dad made him taste hot mustard at a Chinese restaurant. I love hot mustard, it does the trick to make your nose run really quick. Brian on the other hand hated it and still says how cruel it was that his Dad made them try such disgusting stuff.
Then there is Brad (Brian's younger brother) who also remembers how much he hated hot mustard, but he and BJ at least received a quarter for trying it. Brad later found humor in having Austin and Jacob try some hot mustard while eating Chinese food 3-4 years ago. So I guess the acts of their father have trickled down to the children and grandchildren.

To go further into the brains of these Rowser boys, Brian has it in his head that everyone will love strange raw seafood items like he does (sushi). My parents took my brothers family and ours out to eat the other night to a Chinese buffet. They have all kinds of food including a sushi bar. When they ate here before my mom was so excited to take Brian because she knew how much he loved sushi.
It takes 4 times of eating sushi according to Brian before you are addicted. I have had it three times, I do enjoy it but could never make it my main meal.
This was a exciting time for Brian, he was asking everyone to try different things. Julie (my very smart, wise sister in law) chose not to try anything. My brother was caught up in all the fun and so was I and the boys. Mamos even ate a baby octopus tentacle to help Brian with his cause. "It tastes like gum she said." Then Jack, Jacob, and Aiden followed and they all, with a look of wow, on there faces said "it tastes like gum." No gum that I have ever had was Baby octopus flavor, but I was so proud of them. The reward was not a quarter, no Brian took it up a level from his childhood, he offered a 15 min time increase to the boys bedtime. It was all Mamos and I could do not to tell them go for 30 min. or "that large sushi is worth a hour extra."
Jacob, Aiden, and Jack all ate mussels, raw salmon, tuna, and eel along with a delicious baby octopus tentacle. Aiden was the greatest he didn't eat anything on the buffet, nothing looked good to him. But Brian would say Aiden try this and he would chew it to death while dry heaving, all for that extra 15 minutes of staying up late.... oh did I mention that it took an hour to drive home and they all fell asleep early!

I refuse to let Rob read this post as he may get ideas. I do not like any type of Asian food, let alone, raw fish! Your boys are so brave! BTW...I love the picture at the top of your blog. So cute!

Gross Gross GROSS!!

I do not agree with your fishy husband! I have tried sushi various times from different places and it always invokes gagging, dry heaves, etc. I stick with the edemame (sp?)and sake Nothing like filling up on soy beans and rice alcohol.

Your children are very brave. Taylor acts like this with most veggies!

I am with Aiden, all I do is dry heave and I can't get the stuff down! Austin wouldn't even smell something like that. We need to get some culture in their lives!

I love the freckles on Aiden's nose and cheeks. Soooo cute. I think I said it was chewy like gum because it had no flavor at all.
