What a nice day!

It all started Saturday morning when Mamos found a fishing vest for Jacob at a garage sale. It was $10 and the guy was not budging on his price. My mom was patient she went back at 2:30 and it was still there but he still would not budge. Her mistake this time was that she took bubbers with her. IT was love at first sight. He had it in his head, he wanted that vest. He came home looked for money and Mamos said she would take him back and get it for him. Then it was off to the state park pond for some fishing. Jacob was the die hard fisherman who stayed with the pole the entire time. Each of the boys reeled in the fish but it was Jacob's fish.

Each of the boys also ate the fish. They loved it and ate the entire thing. In fact they fought over who got the last part of it. I am sure it had a lot to do with the fact that Daddy pre-pared, grilled, and de-boned it for them.

I just listened to Brian's orders... do we have any onion?
Do we have any season salt?
He didn't want a yes answer he wanted me as his sous chef! Do we have any onion, was really "get me the onion because I am chief chef, I make fire, I make fish!" Women clean up after I make fish!
It was a great trip and Brian did a great job catching and cooking the fish with the boys! Jacob is wearing his vest in the picture above, but he told mamos to give it to him for Christmas so she took it home. Me and Jacob love surprises, that we know about!

It WAS an absolutely beautiful evening. I was glad I was there. Jacob will get the vest for Christmas along with a little something to go along with it.

so cute, what a great time
that is amazing to me that you guys caught a fish!

this is matt's version - we are sitting at the table, he is on seconds and I am getting ready to take my first bite and he says "do we have any ketchup?" which is husband-talk for "I need some ketchup, why don't you go get it for me." this is my reply in wife-talk "you know we have ketchup and you know it is in the door of the fridge, GO GET IT YOURSELF!!" okay, so I may not say it like that, but I surely take my bite and let him figure it out by himself

I love it!! How cute your boys are. You should make them memory books with stories such as this one so when they're older they have mom's view on how that day happened, they'll appreciate it!!
That vest made me laugh, such a cute thing to get attached to. I hope to see him in it after Christmas, just for fun :)
