Diabetes Appointment

My parents came down to help watch kids so I could take Jacob to his diabetes appointment today. They arrived here yesterday and we took them out to dinner for FHE. It is always really nice to have them come and visit.

Well Jacob's appointment went really well. In fact it was the nicest appointment I have ever had. They saw us right away, and didn't forget about us. I had two or three people coming in and working on getting everything I needed done. Sherri Hardy helped me with school ideas and pump questions, she also gave me a bunch of great information including another tester that links to Jacob's pump. Dr. Simard was very nice and helped me make a few changes on Jacob's pump.

Jacob's A1C is 8.5, his goal is to be under 8 so I need to do better. Dr. Simard seemed to be confused as much as I am about how random Jacob's numbers are. They checked his Thyroid and also sent us over for a x-ray at primary children's hospital to see how his bones are growing. I have been concerned about his growth for a couple years now. He is growing steady now but he didn't grow for a bit before we found out about his diabetes and I don't see him catching up.

My Dad got Jack off to school for me in the morning and my mom came down with me to the appointment. She was such a big help, she was able to go out with Jacob and Charlee while I spoke to the Doctors. I don't think she understands how much she helps me, I love her and my Father and thank them again for coming down to help.

UPDATE ON JACOB: His bones are the size of a 4 year 9 month old. He is a 6 year 7 month old. The Doctor Simard is not worried she says he will just be a late bloomer???? I am not so sure. She said she will check him again in a year, but it concerns me that he is 2 years behind on bone growth now, who knows what he will be in a year. They can do other tests to see if he is producing the right amount of growth hormone. My brother went through these tests I think, he hated endocrinologist. In fact if you asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up, he would say "I want to assassinate endocrinologists!"
