I am someone who cares about what other people think! I try not to and I even tell myself that it doesn't matter but it does. I try to avoid confrontation because I end up not saying anything and just nod my head most of the time. (Except with Brian,I have learned to speak to him, it took 8 years.)
Brian spoke to Mrs. O!
Need I say more. Mrs. O is Aiden and Jack's pre-school teacher. We, I believe, got off on the wrong foot. I wasn't really too impressed with her when I first met her but she seemed really nice so I figured that my first impression was not enough to judge her on.
It all started when I decided that I should have both boys in the afternoon pre-school because I was worried about waking all three up and getting them ready for school by myself (most of the time) and also having Charlee to work into that. I received information that both boys were in the afternoon class.
I then had to go and think about it and decided that Jack Jack would miss his afternoon nap and he would be happy. So I (before school started) put Jack in the morning class so he could still get his nap. This is ideal, the only problem was that I didn't think about how much running around that made me have to do. I would walk down with Jacob and Jack wait 10-15 min until Jack's teachers were ready to pick them up, come back home, go back down (for some diabetes problem) come home, go back down to pick up Jack come home feed both boys and somewhere in all of this feed Charlee. Take Aiden down to school check Jacobs diabetes again and come home, only to turn around again and head back down to meet Jacob and Aiden as they ride home.
So on the first day of school I spoke to Mrs. O and asked that Aiden be put in the morning class. She told me that siblings do better when in separate classes.
I told her that Aiden and Jacob were in the same class and they did fine... blah blah we went back and forth for a bit and then she told me that the classes were even and that she now had say as to who was in what class. I told her that I would like them to be together if an opening became available in the morning.
A couple days later after having a terrible running around, children lost, diabetes not going well, baby screaming, day I spoke to her again and asked her if it was at all possible to put them in the same class. I was told "There are no openings, in fact they keep adding to my classes."
I mentioned if they are adding to her classes maybe they could add more in the afternoon and then we could move Aiden. Again she brought up that siblings do better when separated. I brought up that siblings do better when "mama" is happy and not stressed out! She said that she spoke to a lady in the morning pre-school to see if she could pick up Jack Jack and give me a little more time with Charlee. I told her that was very nice of her but I didn't need anyone to pick up my children, I just didn't want to be running back and forth so much. She insisted that it was no trouble, I said that we were fine and we just needed to see about getting them into the same class.
My mom was in town a couple days later so I had time to do some errands, so I went to the school district office to speak to L and J. Letting them also know that I wanted a morning slot and if more students signed up I would like to take the morning instead of the afternoon. I first spoke to L, who informed me that she could move Jack to the afternoon, she doesn't do anything with Aiden but she had no problem moving Jack to the afternoon. I was shocked, it couldn't be that easy, I told her to wait and I would speak to J and Mrs. O. I went up to J's office and spoke with her about possibly moving Aiden to the morning. I also mentioned that Mrs. O solution was that she asked someone else to pick up my kids. I didn't feel comfortable with a stranger BEING ASKED to pick up my kids. I don't ask for much and this was someone asking for me. Kate, my neighbor had mentioned that she would take Jack so that wasn't the issue, the issue was going back and forth so many times. J said she would check with Mrs. O but didn't see a problem with that. I told her that I would also mention to O that I had spoke with her and that you were going to try to work with me.
I called O and left a message so she didn't think I was trying to go over her head, I just wanted them to know that I wanted a morning slot as well!
(I am skipping some I don't remember everything in order)
Well, I met with Mrs. O on Monday morning after dropping off Jack. She told me that I handled it all wrong in going to J and that I shouldn't have done that. She also mentioned that I shouldn't have told J that she found someone to drive my child in the morning and she never said that she gave out personal information. I told her I didn't say that either. She then said "I told you that a mother had agreed to pick up Jack in the morning because she had been in a similar situation as you."
Doesn't that sound like she knows my situation! I don't care about that I didn't tell J that to get her in trouble I actually thought it extremely nice of Mrs. O to be so concerned about me, I just think she handled it the wrong way.
I told her that I went to the district office because I wanted everyone involved to know that I needed a morning slot and if anymore kids signed up that I would like to move Aiden. Well I was told by O that J didn't want anymore phone calls and that calling her had really made J upset.
Mrs. O said: "since Jack is here for behavioral issues" I said he is not, we pay for him. That changed her tone and again it was not her fault for not knowing this she "only got the kids files on the first day of school." I told her that was to bad but it is not my fault either! She continued... there is a boy in the afternoon that would not do well with Jack, he has major behavioral issues and we are afraid that he might lead and cause Jack to be bad!
My thoughts on this were "Aiden is in that class, now I really don't want him in the afternoon class. Mrs. O said we could move Jack to the afternoon but suggested that maybe while the weather was nice I might want to continue to try them in separate classes. J came in at this point and I told them that I really wanted them both in the morning class and that I would keep it the way it is and see if a morning slot opens up. I wanted to ask J if she had complained about me calling but again I was chicken.
Things have been easier lately, I send Jacob off to school on his bike then I deal with Jack screaming that he wants to ride with Jacob for about 10 min. until we leave and take him to school. Amanda J. picks up Jack from school and brings him home and I feed them lunch put Jack to bed and send Aiden down to school on his bike. Then the boys ride home together after school. It is a little easier but I am still going down to the school a lot. Thank goodness for great friends and neighbors.
Anyway back to Brian going down. Brian told Mrs. O, she has no business tell us how to discipline our children, and she has no right to the name of the rash that Aiden has. She is not a doctor and on and on and on he went! Love the man... BUT she then denied it all and said that I have called her 16 times and he has only heard one side of the story... he said "well that is why I am here to hear the other side." When he came home he said "she denied denied denied." I can't wait to see her again I am sure she is going to just love me! I am a little miffed about the 16 phone calls and that she said she never told me that I should use a Thinking Chair, and have Jack use his words etc. I didn't take it bad I again hate confrontation so I nodded and said "yes I will try that."
Jack knows how to use his words trust me!
He loves pre-school and sings everyday! I hope his teachers give me a fair shot and don't judge me because of what has happened. I DO CARE WHAT PEOPLE THINK ABOUT ME!

Jenn, you are so funny! You have every right to be pissed off at Mrs. O, and what she thinks should not matter too you in the least, because she is an idiot! However, if you want to move Jack to our preschool we still have an opening, some of us co-op and some of us pay $80 dollars a month. Let me know!
Wow! That's all I can say-- Wow!
Okay, so if you really do care what other people think, this is what I think of you...WAY TO GO to fight for your kids! We had a kindergarten teacher, Mrs. C, who everyone was afraid of. She made me really mad one day when I was coming around to give all the "good behavior" kids ice cream cones. She was going to deny a cone to one of her kids - but when I got mad at her, she finally listened to me. I don't think anyone had dared stand up to her before. And you know what? We became the best of friends! So there! Keep fighting for those cute boys.
