I find this true so often. I accept duties, say yes, nod my head in the affirmative, all because I don't want to look mean or be a party pooper or be rude!
I asked Brian the other day,
(Me:) So Brian if you were in the office and Ryan had a bad case of BO, what would you say?
(Brian:) Dude, you stink!
(Me:) You would just come right out and tell him that he stinks!
(Brian:) Yes, what else would you do!
(Me:) I don't know, let see, hold your breathe, fake a coughing spell to be able to leave the room, smell your coat pretending to laugh into it etc... You know all the normal things.
I also asked my mom,
(Mom: )I would probably avoid that person.
(Me: )What if it was Diane (one of her really close friends)
(Mom:) I don't know maybe I would say, "What have you been doing Diane, working in the BARN!"
I don't know that I will ever figure out this one. I think that over all women try to be kinder and expect others to be kind to them. We are gentle, soft spoken, do'ers of good, type of people and it is not in "most" of our nature to up and tell someone that they need to drop 10 pounds!
Then we have our stupid moments... my friend Rachel's little girl broke her leg the other day! So terrible, she is only 2 and is a busy busy girl. This is going to be so hard for her! Anyway, when I found out I was on the phone with my other friend Amanda and I mentioned that we should go and get her some cute little things and a card! While at the store, I saw a girl I previously worked with. Cute girl, she was there with her son Ashton...
Me: Hi, How are you Ashton?
Ashton: (silence)
Me: (speaking to Ashton's mom, we will call her A.M. for Ashton's Mom!) How have you been?
A.M.: Good!
Me: Oh are you expecting? Pointing to her little belly...
A.M.: No!, I had a baby girl 3 weeks ago...
Me: nice to see you BYE!
I am an idiot!
Brian, called me tonight shortly after arriving at the stake center.
(Brian): You can always tell it is a Priesthood Meeting when you arrive to the Stake Center and all the cars/trucks are backed in.
(me): That is funny, I can so imagine all the trucks/cars backed in. That would never happen at a Relief Society meeting.
(Brian): It is the quick exit strategy to be the first one at Dairy Keen.
Note: All pictures are taken in every direction. More cars are backed in!
Later during the meeting, Brian ran a quick poll to determine if more snacks are consumed in the Chapel during the Priesthood session by the men or in Sacrament meeting by children. He said that during the meeting all you heard was the crinkling of candy wrappers. So Brian, being a cell phone nut, conducted a text message poll with his 5 brothers and father (some who are apparently sluffers).
One Brother had consumed all his snacks while driving to the Church.
Another had a bag of nibs, sweet tarts and fruit snacks...
Brian was loaded with smarties. Another said it was a toss up!
I always ask Brian when he gets home, how were the speakers? He responds with, "that is confidential, if the women were suppose to know they would be invited."
After giving me a hard time he had a couple of really great stories for me.
President Monson, while speaking on example, relayed a story of a child who would mimic his every move while President Monson was sitting on the stand. President Monson would cross his legs to the right, the child would cross his legs to the right. President Monson would put his hand up to his chin, the child would put his had up to his chin... you get the idea, HIS EVERY MOVE. So President Monson decided to put this child to the test. He made sure that the child had complete eye contact with him and then he (mind you President Monson didn't say this he performed it) "flapped" his ears. The child astonished looked to his dad, Dad not much help, the boy tried and tried to flap his ears, then he finally gave up.
Brian said that his ear movement was not a subtle movement, he had a serious range of motion. President Monson also mentioned that his wife advised him not to do this in his talk.

I can perfectly hear Brian's voice , I can imagine the little devilish grin on his face, when I read that last part about him saying we, as mothers to their children are not invited to the priesthood session. So funny, I totally know he said that, it is so him.
Thanks for the photo proof of the backing in, nobody would have believed you! But so true!!
Sorry about being the cause of the "holy crap why did I just say that" moment at the store! Kendal LOVES the jewelry and the magna doodle, mom loves the treats!!! I also let her open the card, she loves it too. I am saving the rest for tomorrow, it will be a long 7 weeks!
Thanks Jen and Jones!!
Rachel
I had to laugh when I saw the cars being backed in. Rob insists on doing it as well. It drives me crazy! Our neighber even backs into his own garage. I think it hysterical! Oh well, boys will be boys!
I saw Ashton's Mom the other day too. Yes she does still look prego. I didn't get to talk to her though. however if she just had the baby 3 weeks ago, you shouldn't feel bad asking her that. My baby is 3 yrs. old and people ask me if I'm having a baby and that is bad! Maybe I should take the hint! Backing the cars in is a big guy thing! Lyn even backs his truck into the garage every night! Crazy men!
