SICKNESS

Momma: Brian I have strep
Brian: I am going to a hotel... (this was yesterday morning)

This morning,
Aiden: momma is everyone sick but me?
Me: Well daddy said he feels nauseous, Jacob is puking, Jack and I have strep (but are no longer contagious), and Charlee is still sick.
Aiden: "maybe I should go to a hotel!"

We have a sick sick household. I have strep, the boys are all on antibiotic for strep or the prevention of the inevitable. Charlee was up again last night not feeling good, it has almost been two weeks of sickness for her. Jack came into my bed at 2:30 right before Charlee woke up, he had a bad dream. DID I mention I have Strep and I am freezing and sick and I have razor blades down my throat.
In addition to earlier Jacob forgot he was out of insulin and had been dosing himself all day with no insulin in his pump. HI is all that came on his tester, so I changed his pump last night (while sick) and gave him a shot right before bed. A couple hours later I heard him hoping (we took away his crutches) down the hall around midnight and then I heard the "I am high" steady loud pee stream. I went in and tested him, 564... I corrected him and put him back in bed. Early this morning he was puking, he managed to puke on my bed, and in the puke bucket over and over again, telling me he was scared because he couldn't breathe. He fell asleep around 12 noon and I woke him up around 2 because he BG was only 45 and he needed some sugar. He said he felt better and I gave him a jello cup and some power aide. SO far so good, he said his stomach and head ache went from a 10 to a 1. After he ate he said it was a 2 1/2. I love how he uses that annoying "rate your pain from 1-10" scale.
Well this morning Brian asked if it might help for him to take the two boys skiing. WHAT? I was not sure how he thought with me being sick that would help. Then I went in to check on Jacob, all he asked for was quiet, his head hurt so bad and the noise was getting to him, so Brian took the two boys skiing. It was a good thing, Jacob slept and is now feeling better and look how darn cute my boys are skiing.

Now that just sucks. I thought I had strep, but it was just a severe sore throat because it is finally getting a little better. Keep the throw up bug at your house please! I don't need that. Oh, and I am feeling sooo sorry for you!

I really think the puking was related to diabetes and Jacob being so High for so long. He was spilling keytones and then dropped low. You need to give insulin to get rid of keytones and you spill more keytones if you are throwing up. He couldn't eat so it was hard to get his sugars up enough to give him a good blast of insulin. But I did and he was fine after that. Just the headache which again comes from the high for so long.

I'm so sorry! Girl, I had strep throat a couple weekends ago and thank goodness my kids are older and I don't have a baby to tend to because all they ate was cereal and snacks for 2 days while I slept.
All I can say is thank goodness for antibiotics!
