Press 0 to speak to an operator

Why is it that you can't just call anymore and speak to someone. I spent the entire morning on hold with Jacobs pump company. I am on hold for 30 min. but they could not stay on the line with me long enough for me to restart the pump, so I had to call them back three times. This is after they told me that the pump would work. This weekend Jacobs numbers have been extremely high. I had decided that we got a bad batch of infusion sets. I planned on calling this morning to complain about the infusion sets but instead I had a "motor Error" on Jacob's pump. He is now on shots until his new pump can be sent.

(this is Jacob @ 2 years old, one year before he was diagnosed with diabetes)

I spoke with 3 different people, one of the lady's I spoke to asked me if he had bumped it. It being the pump, I said he is 5 years old. She went on to explain how this is an electronic device and it can not be bumped or dropped etc... I explained that he tries to be very careful with it, but he doesn't live in a bubble.
Jacob was spilling large keytones on Sunday morning, and we have spent the last 4-5 days changing pump sites and using shots because the pump is not bring him down. I now believe that the motor was not delivering the insulin like it should. I am to run a series of tests (documenting information, trying new infusion sets etc..) with the new products they send me. This should keep me pretty busy for the next little bit. Have I mentioned I hate diabetes... We are now off the pump and using a combination of Lantus and Novolog to regulate Jacob's diabetes. It has gone pretty smooth, he seems to be really low at meal times and at snack times. I forgot how nice it is to have the pump and not have to make Jacob eat meals and snacks at a certain time. So far so good.

I should talk with the lady and tell her that they should make boy-proof pumps and get a little realistic!
I just listened to all of Travelling Soldier. For some reason i totally love that song. Thanks for reminding me of it.

My favorite Garth Brooks song that I tried to find is one called 'Ireland' but it isn't a big hit with everyone so I can't find it to download. But I love Baton Rouge too!
I think I will go download 'Earl had to die' by the Dixie Chicks. Love that girl power song for some reason. If Matt ends up missing some time, this is not a confession!
