Strengthening our Families

This is a picture of me (age 3) and my family outside the SLC Temple.
I teach Relief Society on the Second Sunday. Today's lesson #19 from the teachings of President Kimball; Strengthening our Families.
I enjoyed speaking to these sisters and enjoyed the comments that were given back to me. We spoke of faith, love, prayer, and blessings in the home that build reservoirs in ourselves and in our children to help them when trials come. These reservoirs of knowledge and faith are crucial to our families.By building reservoirs we will keep our children close and if they stray it will help them come back. F.H.E, scripture study, prayer, and family meal time can all be good. But as we heard last Sunday they can also be better and even still BEST.
I spoke regarding Elder Costa's talk in conference this past week and how it compared to what President Kimball stated in the lesson. He let his family know they were loved, he would find his children then kiss and hold them. They knew there father loved them
Elder Costa spoke of a poem by Norma Cornett Marek.
If I knew this would be the last time I would watch you sleep, I would hug you tighter. I would plead with the Lord to protect you. If I knew this would be the last time I saw you walk out the door, I would hug and kiss you and call you back to hug and kiss you one more time....
Not everyone has the blessings of such families, for some family life is not good, better, or best. President Gordon B. Hinckley has pleaded that we "work at our responsibility as parents as if everything in life counted on it, because in fact everything in life does count on it." From the beginning, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has emphasized family life. Society without basic family life is without foundation and will disintegrate into nothingness... (President Kimball)
Our practice hymn was "As sisters in Zion" it brought me to tears, it was so nice to have the spirit so strong with us. We must all work together to build up his kingdom. For the closing song we sang pg304 "Teach me to Walk in the Light," as parents we need to guide rather than push our children into the paths we want them to go. (Olive Beth Kimball)

I remember ELder Costa's talk. My friend Krista commmented that she loved that talk. She lost triplets at around 22 weeks. She said it was good to hear.

Is that little Jenny in that picture? So darn cute!
