Lost...Taken, FEAR!

July 8, 2009

Hello, 911 Emergency.

"yes, my kids are gone"

Can you tell me where you are?

"yes, I am at the outlet stores in Park City. It is 9:50 a.m and the stores are not open yet so my mother and I thought we would let the boys play at the upper playground."

What is the age and sex of your children?

"boys 7 and 5 years old"

What are they wearing?

"The 7 year old has on a yellow shirt and the 5 year old has on a red shirt."

When did you last see them?

"We all were walking from the car to the playground, the two boys ran ahead my mother following them, I walked into Mrs. Fields to see if I could get them a snack while we waited. I walked in and noticed they were not quite ready to open either so I walked out and my mom was walking towards me, telling me that the boys were not at the playground. I instantly knew that they had gone down to the lower playground, we had told them specifically the upper playground and that maybe we could go to the lower one later. I was mad and I walked down the stairs that are right there and my mom walked around the playground to the street, while calling and looking for them. As we got closer to the playground I could see that they were not there. I called back up to my mom and asked if she saw them, No she said. At this point it seemed too weird, no stores are open, the playground is fenced, and they are no where in sight. That is when I started back up to the upper parking lot to get my car to look for them and call you. They have only been missing less than 5 min. but my mom was right behind them ,we have no idea where they could have gone, it sounds funny but it is as if they just vanished."

We have a police officer heading in that direction.

"thank you"

We chatted for a long time and with little prayers in my heart, I had the idea come into my head that I should go up the round about and see if they had walked up that way. My mom had looked up that way when she walked by but I decided to drive up that way anyway. Sure enough as I headed up the hill to the residential area I saw two boys, yellow and red shirts walking down towards me.
I got off the phone with 911 and by this time is had been around a half an hour. She told me that an officer was in the upper parking lot and to make sure that I spoke to him before I left. I went and found my mom who was terrified and crying going into store after store (now they were open) looking for them. Remember the parking lot is empty, no one is around because we are their early, all the stores were locked at the time the went missing, they were a few steps in front of us and then they were gone!
I asked them what happened and I guess the ran right past the upper playground straight to the lower playground but got turned around and didn't realize that they were lost. They had ran down the hill and around the corner by the time my mom walked in the playground and walked out to find me and tell me they weren't there. Then they ran up by the apartments and around the corner again (looking for the playground) when my mom had walked down the street yelling and looking for them. I was MAD, they knew it too. They stuck next to me in Old Navy like static cling. But by the time we got to the shoe store, their free spirit tendencies took over again and I had to quickly remind them about my recent 911 call!

It was so QUICK, they were just gone. The scary thing is that they didn't even know they were lost. They thought they knew exactly where they were, they didn't know we were looking all over for them. Someone could have picked them up and they would have been gone that fast. The officer asked them if they were scared and Aiden said "NO, we weren't lost."
