Emotions are high

WOW, how to explain the heart break I feel when I learn more of my son's disease.  So many emotions mixed with frustration, anger, love, and sorrow all come and hit me like a heavy weight on my shoulders.  This all started with an article I read, even the title is aweful  "Dead in bed syndrome"  yes that is what they call it.  This is when a diabetic experiences an extreme "hypoglycemia" low which casues abnormal heart rhythms.  Here is a exerpt from the article...

"Since the original article, there has been a modification of the theory that hypoglycemia is the cause, in which it's suggested that night-time low sugar (nocturnal hypoglycemia) may provoke changes in heart electrical activity, leading to heart rhythm disturbances (cardiac arrhythmias) that in turn lead to death. It's been found that hypoglycemia can change the electrical activity of the heart (technically, hypoglycemia can cause prolongation of the QT interval) and it's thought that in susceptible individuals, the change in electrical activity might cause lethal arrhythmias. A recent study of 25 patients with T1DM, using continuous glucose monitoring, found nocturnal hypoglycemia and using electrocardiographic monitoring, found that cardiac rhythm disturbances were occurring while the blood sugar was low "

I recently have learned of two diabetic related dealths in teens.  I wanted to learn more for myself and now I am not sure I was ready to handle what I found out.

One teen (Logan) after a long hike experienced a low while driving home and died instantly in a car acciedent.   Another died while taking a nap on the couch.
